Request for Startups: Ocean Dynamism.

  1. Is the earth’s climate changing? I believe yes.

  2. Are humans causing this change? I believe yes, even if not, we should probably check this box and figure it out.

My solution is to focus on OCEAN related investments. These investments don’t have to directly correlate to climate change, but I believe that more capital flowing towards oceans will deliver more focus towards oceans.

Oceans make up 80% of the planet. Oceans are humans main mode of shipping transport, 90% of global trade moves through the oceans. 95% of communication moves through cables that are connected through the oceans. Most wars in history have been decided by who controlled the ocean. The ocean is also the regulator of the Earth’s temperature.

I’ve been on an ocean investment journey for 6-7 years, and it has led me to some wonderful investments in amazing humans. Wild thing is that ALL of them are still around, so ocean startup companies are more resilient than most.

I think the social understanding of the importance of oceans, and the economic benefit of them are about to collide and create amazing startups, and Boost VC would like to be a part of it.

So here’s a Request for Startups:

  • Persistent Ocean Monitoring, above water and below

  • New ways to breathe under water

  • Underwater residential construction

  • Marketplace for seaweed farms to connect with consumers

  • Using ocean data to lengthen our lives

  • Persistent mapping of the ocean floor

  • Hyperloop, but through the ocean

  • Atlantis

  • New Ocean related sports

These are a few ideas I think could be incredibly important to the future, but we just want more people bringing capital and awareness to the human endeavor of ocean innovation.

Long live Ocean Dynamism.
